Practical AI Ideas for Small Businesses
Small businesses do not need a complicated AI strategy to get value from AI. The easiest starting point is usually a repetitive communication or documentation task that already has a clear human review process.
Customer questions are a good example. Collect common questions and turn them into a draft FAQ. AI can group similar questions, suggest clearer wording, and identify gaps. A person should check final answers, especially for prices, policies, guarantees, and anything that could create a customer commitment.
Another useful area is internal documentation. Give AI your approved process notes and ask it to turn them into a checklist for a new employee. Compare the checklist with the original instructions before using it.
Marketing drafts can also benefit from AI when the underlying ideas are yours. Start with real customer questions, product details, and examples from your business. Use AI to organize those inputs into a draft, then add your own experience, evidence, and opinions.
Do not automate everything at once. Pick one workflow, measure the time it takes, and keep it only if the result is genuinely better. Avoid entering confidential customer information into a tool unless you understand its data handling and your obligations.
